COMPONENT 2:
EXAM QUESTION:
Concealment:
Some photographers create portraits that purposefully hide or disguise sections of the image. Rosanna Jones conceals facial features by overlapping and rearranging parts of the photograph. Wallace Juma partially conceals the identity of the sitter by physically working onto the collaged photographic image. The textile artist Jose Romussi uses stitch and collage to conceal part of the photographic portrait. Pablo Thecuadro creates intricately cut collages from his fashion photographs which often conceal part of a face or figure.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:
I have chosen Concealment as my theme, Because i like the thought of 'Concealing' ones identity, because the identity is simply what makes you, yourself. So stripping yourself of that title, and simply making yourself unknown is intriguing by itself, but then, Theres a lot of different genres used within the theme, for example, 'Landscape, Portraiture', It combines nature, with human relationships and environment. I also like the idea of concealment, because of the way its presented by photographers and how there are different aspects to the theme, mainly because no matter the idea of concealment, it somehow links altogether really well. It also is a good way to express emotions, like loss, or maybe loneliness, depending on how you are feeling, Concealment can be used to describe it.
ROSANNA JONES:
Rosanna Jones is a photographer and mixed media image maker based in London.
MY RESPONSE:
Personally, I enjoy Rosanna Jones' artwork, the use of different materials that she uses have a wide range variety, she uses paper and a lot of other materials, I enjoy her finished outcomes where she rips the photo and collages them over one another, creating a cool, ripped effect, almost like their appearance is distorted. hiding their true identity, which I find quite intriguing, I like the way she combines both art and photography into her photos, and a bunch of mixed medias that definitely catch my eye, I enjoy her work a lot.
MY PLAN:
To get the same type of effect that Rosanna Jones uses in her photos, I am going to print out photos I have taken, and then I am going to cut out and collage them over one another, I want to experiment with the art aspect as well as the photography aspect, combining them together to create a rather creative piece. I would also use different medias, I will experiment with photoshop, and attempt to create a piece using different medias, for example, paper.
